What the public itinerary does not provide is a ship-by-ship berth calendar or a guarantee that every vessel will put its gangway at one named West Point dock. Cruise materials routinely use destination names for the day even when local operations require a nearby landing and a coach transfer.

Use the location shown in the ship’s daily program, not an old map pin or another traveler’s photograph. River traffic, current, dock availability, security, and maintenance can all affect where the shore portion begins.

Where Ships Land for West Point

West Point has waterfront facilities, but it is not an open municipal cruise pier where independent visitors can wander from the gangway into town. Public 2026 sources do not support promising one permanent passenger berth for every cruise call.

Your vessel may use an operational landing associated with West Point or another practical Hudson River access point, followed by organized transportation. The exact arrangement belongs to the captain, local authorities, the installation, and the cruise operator.

Can You Explore Independently?

Highland Falls is the civilian village immediately outside the academy gate, with food and basic services. It is not a substitute route into the academy, and walking time from the ship cannot be estimated responsibly until the actual landing is known.
