Five usable hours: choose Moody Gardens, or combine the Pleasure Pier with a Seawall walk. Moody Gardens is a multi-attraction complex away from downtown, so it should not be squeezed into a larger island loop.
A full pre-cruise day: Arrive the night before, spend the morning at Galveston Island State Park, and split the afternoon between the Strand and the beach. You board rested instead of rushed.
A realistic word on accessibility
Accessible parking, the lot-to-terminal route, curb assistance, and ship boarding are separate parts of the trip. Confirm the correct accessible lot or shuttle with the parking operator, then arrange mobility-equipment handling and gangway help with the cruise line.

Galveston sails year round, and spring and fall bring the most comfortable island weather. Summer is hot and humid, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November.
